Practice Manager

Mairead is a Registered Nurse and Midwife with over 20 years’ experience in the National Health Service (NHS). Her career experience is high risk pregnancy care and general management.

On completion of her nursing in 1995 she consolidated her training for one year as an Orthopaedic Nurse before commencing her midwifery training. From 1998 she worked as a junior midwife at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and gradually climbed the ranks to senior midwife.  Her career spans from high risk labour wards and antenatal care which led to her interest and choice in pursuing the care and management of women with high risk pregnancies.

In 2010 she joined a successful maternal medicine team at St Georges Hospital in London, which led to a secondment within Haematology. This role extended to assisting in developing a nurse-led anticoagulation clinic for pregnant women which provided evidence based advice on blood disorders in pregnancy and their treatment.

In 2013 she had the opportunity to work in a transformational team as a project manager for Neurosciences and Surgery and developed skills in the collection of data, analysis and report writing and its application to projects in improving patient care. She was made Discharge and Partnership Lead for the Operations Department and assisted in the opening of the Departure Lounge at St Georges Hospital with the aim of improving patient flow and assist with early discharges from hospital. In 2015 she was appointed as the Lead Midwife for inpatient services at Epsom Hospital where she worked with Mr Shehata and joined his team at the clinic in 2016.

In her spare time she enjoys cooking, walking and spending time with her husband and daughter Belle.
